The wildfires in the area are still blazing. My heart goes out to the families of the three firefighters killed earlier this week. I’m so grateful for the firefighters risking their lives to keep us all safe.
So far, we’ve been lucky here. The worst we’ve had to deal with is falling ash. Worried that it might spark a new fire in the drought-stricken forest around us, we set up sprinklers behind my parents’ house. I’m really wishing we had the pump set up to do the same thing up at our homestead site.
Drew and I went for a drive this afternoon, and he snapped some pictures of the blackened trees.
From the foreboding sky, you’d think it almost twilight, but nope, he took this one in the middle of the afternoon:
And I’ll never get over how spooky the sun looks in a sky full of smoke.
The fires are scary, but in the meantime, life keeps moving on. My sister and her kids came over for taco salad this evening, and we’ve got plans to work on the homestead more tomorrow. Stay tuned Monday for floorpan updates!
So glad to hear from you both! I will keep praying that everything goes well for all of you. Got a very nice message from Sheryl this morning and it calmed me as to your situation. How do the kids manage with all the ash in the air? I am so glad that nothing untoward has not happened to you or any of your family, that you are safe and keeping a wary eye on what could happen. Keep up the good work that you have been doing. Say hello to the family for us please.
